Hypnosis - What Is It? How Can It Help?
Hypnosis can be a relaxing therapeutic experience that produces wonderful benefits. Despite this, many people are concerned about experiencing hypnosis and delay treatment due to some common misconceptions. These concerns usually include the idea that someone can take control of their mind and get them to act or do something that is against their will, or they worry that they will lose control and float off to sleep or loss consciousness during hypnosis. The truth is that no one can be hypnotized if they don't want to be, nor can they be made to do or reveal anything that they do not wish to. You are always in control of your experience. Also, while it is true that a very small fraction of individuals will reach extremely deep levels of trance and "forget" the session, the vast majority will remember everything that happened.

Hypnosis is simply a relaxed state of focused attention. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis where you are simply guided to achieve your stated goals. It can be an interesting, and effective therapeutic technique used to resolve many unwanted habits and emotional issues including:

Stress related migraines
Stress related insomnia
Teeth grinding
Stop smoking
Pain management & improved healing
Test anxiety reduction
Trauma
Fear of flying
Panic & anxiety
Fears & phobias

Using Hypnosis as a Business Solution
Feeling reluctant to pick up your phone to make those sales calls? Break out in a sweat when you have to get up and speak before a group? Having sleepless nights worrying about your ability to confidently and smoothly present your ideas to your colleagues or your boss? How you handle these common business problems can have a great impact both on your ability to move ahead and develop your career, and/or expand and grow your own business. Although it's easier to give in to our own desires to avoid dealing with those situations that are outside of our "comfort zone", it's also true that in today's business environment we must frequently meet the challenge of overcoming discomfort to do what's necessary to eliminate those obstacles and reach our business goals.

Fortunately, there is a painless, fun technique available to help you get past your "discomfort zone". The answer is: hypnosis!

Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention that allows us to get free of those internally produced fears and anxieties that so often get stuck in our path, preventing us from moving forward. As a matter of fact we have all experienced hypnosis like trance states - we are just not used to calling it that. How many times have you driven somewhere only to realize when you arrived that you hadn't a clue how you arrived because you had been thinking about something else entirely! This demonstrates that the human mind is capable of staying alert to driving while another part of our consciousness wanders off thinking about something else entirely! It's also important to remember that all hypnosis is self hypnosis, it is not a matter of someone "forcing" you into a hypnotic state, it is simply your own ability to allow your mind to be at it's most creative to invent the solutions necessary to solve the problem. The hypnotherapist's responsibility is to assist you in getting to the place where you can enjoy the state of deep relaxation that comes with hypnosis and allow all the negative chatter of the conscious mind to fad so that your own positive solutions can emerge. So next time you feel "stuck" in a business problem consider hypnosis as a business solution!

Self Hypnosis
Ever feel like your day would go a lot better if you could just reduce your stress level and take a little vacation? Well you can, and you can do it all from the comfort of a chair without the hassle of making all those travel plans!

Just follow these simple steps. First, find a comfortable chair and turn it to face a blank wall. You can keep your eyes opened or closed. Take 4 or 5 slow deep breaths in order to relax your body and prepare for the trip. Now you can think about relaxing each set of muscles in your body, starting from your feet and working your way up. (Start with thinking about making your feet loose and limp as you let all tension drain, now go to your calves, then your knees, etc.). Be sure to relax the back of your eyes, your throat, and your forehead. As you allow your mind to wander see what images come up when you ask yourself to go off to a soothing, comfortable place. Maybe it will be at the seashore on a peaceful foggy day, or perhaps it's the lush green lakeside area at the cabin that you visited during one of our hot summers. Once you've located your place, you can now make it as vividly pleasurable as possible by thinking about the sounds, the smells, the colors and the details of what you see. Take some time to enjoy it! After several minutes it will probably be time to return to reality... but you can be certain in the knowledge that it's easy to go back to your special place anytime you wish. So... have a great vacation!

Using Hypnosis for Stress Related Insomnia
We all know how important it is to start the day feeling rested and ready to take on the business challenges of the day. Sometimes this seems like an "impossible dream" because we've been up all night tossing and turning or we find that we are suffering from the pain of grinding our teeth during sleep, or then again it could be that persistent migraine that is keeping us up. When this happens on a regular basis it can drain your energy and make optimum peak performance a dream rather than a reality. Anyone who is experiencing dental, migraine or sleep difficulties should first consult with their doctor. Only after a medical evaluation and clearance is it time to look in another direction for a solution to the problem. Stress related difficulties may be impacting on your ability to function at your best. Fortunately these problems can be dealt with through the use of hypnosis!

Remember, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. It is simply a state of focused self-attention. During this state of hypnotic trance, the mind can more creatively locate the basis of the body's feelings of tension. This will naturally lead to natural healing solutions. It can be an interesting, relaxing and effective way to resolve many unwanted habits that interfere with your ability to achieve peak performance. So.... next time you're tossing and turning, or feeling the pain of clenching your teeth too tightly, or suffering from a migraine, don't despair. Think of trying another approach to eliminating the problem. Get yourself ready for the challenges of the day!
